Roberta (Cantrell) Green was born on October 29, 1931 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, the daughter of John William Cantrell (1907–1977) and Grace Nola (Parsley) Cantrell (1910–1986).

She attended school in Warren County before the family moved to Detroit, Michigan during World War II. Then, after the war, the family moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Roberta graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1949.

Roberta was married to Winston Fletcher Green (1929–2013).

After working at the K-25 and Y-12 government plants in Oak Ridge, she attended business and insurance school in Nashville. She worked as an insurance secretary in Oak Ridge until moving to Orlando, Florida in 1960. She returned to Oak Ridge in 1970 to take care of her parents, who had extended illnesses. After her parents passed away in β€˜77 and '86, she lived with her daughter in Oak Ridge, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Shelbyville, Tennessee. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.

Roberta was 80 years old when she passed away on December 2, 2011 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville from an extended illness of ten years, and for the last five years of her life she was bed bound.

Preceded in death by here parents, her grandparents John H Parsley and Emma Myrtle (Green) Parsley, she was survived by a daughter, a grandson and by several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services were held at Bluff Springs Church of Christ in McMinnville in Warren County, and burial was in Webb Cemetery.
