GILBERT DAVID CANTOR, 94, formerly of BRADLEY BEACH, died at St. Peter's Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in in Harlem, N.Y., and raised in Brooklyn, he lived most of his life in Bradley Beach before retiring to Deerfield Beach, Fla., and then later to Highland Park. He worked as an electrical engineer for the U.S. Army Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth. His work on Project Diana in 1947, in which a radio signal was bounced off the moon, and which was considered one of the keys to making space exploration possible. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Lillian. Surviving are his sons, Irving and Arnold; a daughter, Janet; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
