He was a retired coal miner with Armco, was a member Church of Christ, Madison, 60 year member UMWA, and was with the CCC ( Civilian Conservation Corp).
He was the son of the late Dee and Bell Miller Canterbury.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Bertha; sons; Freddie and his wife Jane Canterbury and Johnny and his wife Teresa Canterbury all of Madison; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville for their care.
Funeral service will be 2pm Saturday, Jan. 24, Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Ministers Ray Reynolds and Floyd Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Madison.
