Susan Flora Daniels Cannon, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 24, 2009 in Cedar City, Utah after a sudden stroke.

She was born May 19, 1932 in New York City to Joe E. and Martha Mackie Daniels.

She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Oberlin College in 1954. Susan married John Q. (Jack) Cannon Jr. on August 13, 1955 in Riverton, New Jersey. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1961, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Sue was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership and teaching capacities. She fulfilled a mission with her husband from 2001-2003 in the South Africa Johannesburg Mission, and together they were ordinance workers in the St. George Temple for four years.

Sue was a volunteer at Valley View Medical Center, at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, was a PTA President at Cedar High School, and was active in other community efforts. Her greatest contributions were as a loving, loyal, steady and self-effacing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Everyone who knew her felt they were supported, accepted and loved unconditionally.

Sue is survived by her husband, Jack, and their children Michael (Shauna) Cannon of Rexburg, Idaho; Dian (Ralph) Morrison of Salt Lake City; Martha (Nathan) Johnson of Warrenton, Virginia; John (Brooke) Cannon of American Fork, Utah; along with 18 adoring grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who with their cousins loved, laughed with and learned from their beloved "Grandma Sue." She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Martha Jane Hurst.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Rock Church, 75 East Center Street, Cedar City. Bishop Brent Baumgartner of the Cedar City Twelfth Ward will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City, and on Monday at the mortuary from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
