BOUNTIFUL-Dean Richards Cannon, 78, passed away peacefully at the University of Utah Medical Center in the University Village area of Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sunday, April 20, 2008, surrounded by members of his family.
He was born July 2, 1929, in Salt Lake City to Hugh Jenne and Sarah Ellen Richards Cannon. He attended Salt Lake City schools, graduating from South High, and attended Pasadena Junior College and the University of Utah. He married Pauline Gill June 4, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City for five years and then moved to Fullerton, California, where they lived for 10 years, and they have lived in Bountiful, Utah, for the past 40 years. Dean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grand-father, brother, and friend. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in numerous callings, including as a missionary in the Northern California Mission and as a ward clerk, counselor in two bishoprics, high councilor, bishop in the Bountiful 42nd Ward, counselor in the Mueller Park Stake presidency, and with his wife as a temple worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple and as coeditors for the ward newsletter. He worked at KSL TV and KUTV, as a service representative for Wurlitzer organs, at ABC as the chief field engineer for remote and sports pickups, for the LDS Church, including 10 years as managing director of the Information Systems Department, at Deseret Mutual Benefits Administration, and as a consultant for Utah Health Information Network.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughter-in-law, Ruth Nelson Cannon; daughters, Barbara (David) Griffiths and Sarah (Nick) Cassavaugh; brothers, George R. (Lois -deceased) and Max R. (Elsie); sister, Alice (Lloyd) Hicken; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grand-children, with twin boys on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard; two grandchildren; and a brother, Donald.
Funeral Services will be held Fri., April 25, 2008, at 12 noon at the Mueller Park LDS Stake Center, 1800 E. Mueller Park Road, Bountiful. Friends may call Thurs. evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, or Friday from 10:30-11:30 at the Church.
Interment-Bountiful Memorial Park.
