Anthony Cannata Jr., a retired shop steward for A&M Lockett Co., died Wednesday at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was 75.
Mr. Cannata was born in Bridge City and lived in Marrero for the past 17 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6793 in Westwego, the Woolworth's Breakfast Club and the Monsignor Peter Wynhoven Council No. 3031 of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include a son, Anthony "Nino" Cannata III; a daughter, Sue Cannata Ryals; three brothers, Vincent, Joseph and Frank Cannata; a sister, Nancy Cannata; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A Mass will be said today at 11:30 a.m. at Westside Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero. Burial will be in Restlawn Park in Avondale.
