Annie B. (Misiorski) Cannata, of 43 Fairmount Street, New Britain, CT, and Wethersfield, CT, passed away peacefully at The Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General on Thursday (March 11, 2010) with her loving family beside her.


Annie was the daughter of the late Anna (Mikita)and Joseph Misiorski. Annie attended New Britain Schools and graduated from Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse University, with a degree in nursing.


She was employed as a Registered Nurse by Dempsey Hospital, UCONN, Farmington, CT, for several years and then spent the majority of her nursing career as a Nursing Supervisor at The Hospital for Special Care, New Britain, CT, when it was referred to as The Memorial Hospital. After thrity-five years in the full time nursing field, she worked part time until the age of eighty-two at The Southington Care Facility.


Annie leaves her son, Sebastian and his wife, Carol Cannata, of Wethersfield, CT, her daughter, Mary Ann Agostini of Niantic, CT; her two granddaughters, Mary Jean Agostini, and her husband, Mark Vaughan, of Berlin and Niantic, CT, Barbara Keegan and her husband, John of Orange, CT; and her great-grandchildren, Jack Keegan, Ryan, Aubry and Aleia Vaughan. She also leaves her sister, Pauline Drozdowski and her husband, Peter, of New Britain, CT; a favorite niece and nephew, Maureen and Richard Sylvester, and their two sons, Brian and Kevin. Annie was formerly married to Sebastian A. Cannata, who passed away in 1987. She was also predeceased by her brother, Stanley Misiorski; her sisters, Alma Kraszewski and Jean Reznik. Annie also leaves many friends, neighbors, and medical colleagues. She was a dedicated nurse, unrelenting in the assistance and encouragement she would offer her patients in nursing them back to health. Annie took immense pride in her work and will be deeply missed by everyone.


Funeral rites for Annie will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 8:00 a.m., with the procession departing at 8:30 a.m., from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad Street, New Britain, CT.
Committal service and final resting place will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt Street, New Britain, CT.
