Alfred Charles Cane, 76, passed away in his home in Springfield, Mo., on May 5, 2007, surrounded by his devoted family. Alfred was born on the family farm near Madera, Calif., July 2, 1930. Captain of the football team, he graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1948, the same year he married his high school sweetheart, Floy Smith. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1952, and served as a faithful member all his life. he worked as a type setter for a Fresno, Calif. newspaper for 22 years and then entered into the real estate business. In 1997 Alfred and his wife relocated to Springfield, Mo., where he continued in the real estate business. He is survived by his wife, Floy; eight children, Ronald and his wife, Carmela Cane, Carol and husband, Ronald Eldridge, Mark Cane, Bruce and wife, Debra Cane, David and wife, Sandra Cane, Candi Cane Torres and husband, Leonard Torres, Kelly and husband, Guy Zindel, Todd Cane; 31 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2007, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4450 South Farm Road 141, Springfield. Dedication and interment will follow in the Maple Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
