Born in Polo, Bulacan in the Philippine Islands to Paulino Candido and Inocencia Evangelista. He died peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren after a short bout of pneumonia. Ramon was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his three children, Mel (Coty), Cenon (Linda) and Larry (Maria); daughter-in-law Evelyn; grandchildren, Carolyn, Michelle, Paulo, Cindy, Vanessa, Nora and Kevin; and two sisters, Mauricia and Potenciana. Ramon was very proud of his grandchildren. He was the fourth of seven children from a farming and fishing village of Bilog. Preceded in death by his wife, Julita, and two children, Victor and Nora. He lived in Mountain View, CA for over 30 years.
Ramon was a WWII guerilla veteran in the Philippines serving as sergeant in the 61st Infantry Regiment of USAFE. He immigrated to California in the mid-1970s. He was a carpenter, a farmer, and a healer. Though he only completed a primary education, he was a natural leader. He was strict yet compassionate. His brothers and sisters looked up to him. A very religious person, he was active in his church and an active cursillista in his hometown of Obando. He enjoyed life to the fullest even to the last day, and loved to sing, dance, entertain, travel and gamble in retirement years. Ramon traveled the world and visited his homeland many times with his wife.
