Helen (Campbell) Brehm, of Tustin, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 105.

She was born on April 23, 1908, in Newaygo County, to Earl R. and Addie (Davenport) Campbell. On November 5, 1939, in Ionia, she married Ernst Brehm, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1988.

Helen graduated from Big Rapids High School as salutatorian of the class of 1926. She attended Michigan State University and graduated from Ferris State University and received her master's degree in economics from Michigan State University.

Mrs. Brehm taught at Big Rapids High School, Union High School, Ionia High School, and spent many years teaching commercial subjects at Tustin High School. She set up the secretarial program at Montcalm Community College and was named instructor emeritus there after her retirement in 1973.

Helen volunteered for many organizations, including the Red Cross, the Wexford County Animal Shelter and South Community United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for many years. She had lived in Inverness, Fla., from 1988 until 2000, and then returned home to Tustin and Cadillac, where she was often visited by her former students.

Survivors include her daughter, Victoria Brehm of Tustin; nephews, Bruce (Jean) Campbell of New York, and Terry Campbell of Troy; and a niece, Margaret Campbell of New Hampshire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Loren and Frank Campbell.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, with Steve Francis officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday, October 16, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Osceola County Animal Shelter of Salvation Army.
