Velma L. Brown
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Velma Lucille Brown, 79, of University Place, formerly of Springfield, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Alexander, the daughter of Charles Freeman and Emily O'Lena Bell Campbell. She married Eugene J. "Kelly" Brown in 1938 in Missouri; he preceded her in death in February.
Mrs. Brown had worked at Fiatallis.
Survivors: two daughters, Sharon LaFaver of University Place, and Patricia Brown of Springfield; a son, Gary (wife, Louella) Brown of Moxee, Wash.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Campbell of Champaign; and two sisters, Mary Pate of Springfield and Dorothy Carls of Athens.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Burial: Jacksonville East Cemetery.

Aunt Velma and Uncle Kelly were married in St. Louis, Missouri January 12, 1938, according to the "Daily Illinois Journal." They were the parents of three children: Gary, Patsy, and Sharon.
