This family moved from Mobile to Leakesville about 1908. The Campbells were next door neighbors in the 1920s and 1930s to Geo. and Lucy Churchwell in Leakesville. The family was musically talented and their home was a favorite gathering place for neighbors and friends during happy times.

Mrs. Annie George Campbell, age 62, wife of the late D. T. Campbell, died at her home in north of Leakesville, Sunday after a brief illness. Mrs. Campbell was born and reared in Mobile, Alabama, but has been a resident of Leakesville for twenty-six years years. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal church in Mobile, but attended the Methodist church of Leakesville with regularity. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. W. E. Stewart, pastor of the Baptist church, assisted by Rev. M. R. Jones, pastor of the Methodist church, and Rev. A. G. Kennedy, pastor of the Presbyterian church at 11 a.m. Monday. Funeral services were held by Dr. Gardiner C. Tucker, rector of St. John's Episcopal church of Mobile, at the Higgins Mortuary at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon. Interment was in Magnolia cemetery.
Surviving are here[sic] mother, Mrs. B. R. George, Mobile; three daughters, Mrs. J. L. Bryars, Birmingham, Alabama, and Mrs. R. C. McDonald, Middletown, Pa.; six sons, C. T. Campbell, Mobile; Augus Campbell, Birmingham; Duncan Campbell, Mobile; Dan, Davies and Robert Campbell of Leakesville. Pallbearers were: C. O. Thomas, J. T. Thomas, M. L. Griffin, W. E. Stewart, M. A. Williams and Gaines Brannon.. Published in the Greene County [MS] Herald, 27 Sep 1935.
