Lottie, as she preferred to be called, was a daughter of Gottlieb Sebastian Kracht and Regina Susan Helwig. She grew up on the farm, but attended school through 12th grade (high school) and was considered responsible enough to drive the school bus (see pictures).
She married John William Campbell Sr. about 1927, probably in Franklin County, Iowa. They had 5 children:

Lottie and John moved to Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, sometime between 1932 and 1935, then moved back to Iowa Falls, Hardin County, Iowa, in 1959. It was a family joke that they moved to Illinois to give birth to their last child and then moved back to Iowa to resume their lives after she was married off.
