Mrs. Campbell was born Nov. 1, 1923 on Rt. 170 on her father's farm in Unity Township, Ohio, a daughter of Robert and Gladys Beight Smith. She was a descendant of the founders of Petersburg including Peter Musser, Israel Warner and John Beight. She was a lifelong Petersburg resident until moving to Villa Maria more than a year ago.
She was a graduate of Springfield Local High School and was a homemaker. She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg, where she was active for many years as an organist. She also sang in the church choir and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was currently a member of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Petersburg Fire Department and a former Camp Fire Leader.
Mrs. Campbell enjoyed cards and was a member of various card clubs. She loved to babysit and enjoyed music. She played the piano and organ that she taught herself. She especially loved to visit with her family and friends. She also loved Christmas and made sure her house was decorated every year. She was also a pet/cat lover, caring for her pets through out the years.
Her husband, Clarence "Bill" Campbell, whom she married March 27, 1943, died Aug. 17, 1989.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carl Campbell; and a sister, Eileen Crawford.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville with Father Gerald DeLucia officiating.
