Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Sapp Campbell, 78, were held Sunday, July 22 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bethel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joe T. Sudduth in charge assisted by the Rev. Chester Badgett, the Rev. Dan Purdum and the Rev. Harold Newland. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. The pallbearers were Claud McLean, Oscar Shipp, Paul McCubbin, Billie Munford, Gilbert Shipp, and Adolphus Allen. The honorary pallbearers were Homer McKinley, Henry Miller, George Wilson, Lyle Miller, Clarence Graham, Coy Rainwater, Gholson Wolford, Everett Kerr, Sam Coppock, Twyman Campbell, Richard Speer and Mack Rodgers. Mrs. Campbell, daughter of the late Jim Sapp and Mrs. Lucinda J. Subblett Sapp, was born in Taylor County, Ky., October 1, 1877. She died at her home at 212 Bell Avenue, Friday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m. after a long illness. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church. She united in marriage to J. F. Campbell December 16, 1897 and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. Survivors include: Mrs. W. T. Chandler, Mrs. Richard Salmon, and Turner "Scrap" Campbell, all of Campbellsville, Ky. James Lester Campbell preceded his mother March 28, 1953. Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Campbell is survived by one sister, Mrs. S. T. Miller of Campbellsville; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
