Daughter of John & Sarah Carson Ranck. Wife of Jess O Campbell, mother of known children: Florence, Thomas Edwin, Edna and Donald.
Blanche Ranck was born to John and Sarah (Carson) Ranck in Lycoming, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Waterville, PA and graduated from Lycoming, PA "Normal School" in 1908. By 1910 she had moved to Oshkosh, NE with her mother. She met a handsome young rancher (3 years her junior), Jesse O. Campbell. They married in 1912 and had four children; Florence, Thomas Edwin, Edna Mae, "Eddie" (Albee) and Donald.

The Nebraska Kinkaid Act of 1904 allowed residents, to file for one section (640 acres) of free land. By 1910, Blanche's father had died and her mother, Sarah (age 59) moved to NE with her son and 2 daughters. Sarah's "Kinkaid" was on Blue Creek just north of Oshkosh. Both Blanche and her mother Sarah were at home on horseback. Sarah carved out a ranch on Blue Creek; she grew her own food, built a house and cared for a menagerie of animals.

Blanche and Jesse also built a ranch for themselves. Their children were familiar with horses but also drove tractor and tended chickens. They eventually sold the ranch and retired to town. Thank you Blanche and Sarah for your adventurous spirit, your ability to tolerate dusty wind and your beaming smiles.

Summary
Jesse L. Campbell and Miss Blanche Rank, both of Garden Co., were married last Friday (5 Jul) evening in the courthouse by Judge Stetuteville. The young couple were deeply impressed by the ceremony and after the judge gave his blessings, collected the fee, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell took their departure, realizing for the first time the dignity and responsibility of their new relationship. "May joy, peace and contentment be their portion, as they wander together toward life's golden sunset."
