Janet Calvin Bradshaw, 96, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Lawndale Manor assisted living center in Garner, NC, of natural causes. She formerly lived in West Lafayette and resided at Westminster Village before moving to North Carolina to be near her son. Born Nov. 8, 1914, in East Palestine, OH, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Edna D. Calvin. She grew up in Niles, OH, and graduated from Purdue University in 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brig. Gen. John O. Bradshaw. They were married Aug. 27, 1938.
Mrs. Bradshaw was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at Purdue and was active in local and state Republican politics. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, needlepoint, and socializing with friends and family.
Surviving is her son, James H. "Jim" Bradshaw (wife Karen) of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are grandson, Bryan Bradshaw of Garner, NC; granddaughter, Brenda (Mrs. John) Spencer of Clayton, NC, and their children, Alicia and Elijah; grandson, Craig Bradshaw (wife Shawna); grandddaughter, Jennifer Richardson and her daughters, Megan Harding and Gwen Richardson of Lafayette; and many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Anne B. Nash; son, Robert C. "Bob" Bradshaw; and brother, George Calvin, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette on April 16, Pastor Rob Eyman officiating; internment at Grand View Cemetery.
