|Birth: ||Sep. 29, 1846|

The first-born child of George Washington Bacon and Matilda Martha Calvert Bacon was a son, named Leonard. He was born 12/6/1867 and died 8/24/1869 in Pettis County Missouri. The eight surviving children are listed.
The U.S. Census of 1850 shows Langston Bacon and his wife Sarah living in Meramec Township in St. Louis County, MO. Langston is a farmer with real property valued at $600. The residents of his household, their relationship to him, their ages and their place of birth are as follows:
Langston Bacon, age 33, head of household, MO
Sarah Bacon, his spouse, age 30, NC
Their children: George W., 11, MO; Louisa, 9, MO; William, 7, MO; Elizabeth, 4, MO; Sarah A., 2, MO.
Also in the household is Elizabeth, age 77, born in VA (assumed to be his mother or aunt).
Also in the household are the following, assumed to be boarders or farm workers: Richard Carberry, 30, PA; Josiah Getuller, 30, VT; Henry Sandford, 48, Germany; and Frederick Sandford, 51, Germany.
The U.S. Census of 1860 shows Langston and Sarah still living in Meramec Township, St. Louis County, MO. Their children living in their household are Louisa, William, Elizabeth, Sarah E., Mary A., 8, Charles, 4, Josephine, 2, and M.A., <1.
(The oldest child George W., who would have been about 21, and the older Elizabeth who would have been about 87 are not shown as members of the household).
No record of Langston and Sarah and family has been found on the 1870 census.
The marriage record of George W. Bacon and Matilda Calb(v)ert was found in the county court records in Pettis County, MO. They were married December 19, 1866. (Side note: the next wedding listed on the same date and performed by the same minister was of Sarah A. Calb(v)ert to John J. Ragar. Sisters or cousins)?
The U.S. Census of 1870 lists George W. Bacon as head of household living in Pettis County, MO, Washington Township. He is now age 31, having been born in 1839 in MO. Other members of his household are Matilda Bacon, his spouse, age 23, John Bacon, age 11, William Bacon, age 1, and Thomas Calvert, age 31 (assumed relative of Matilda Calvert Bacon). (Side note: George W. and Matilda's first son named Leonard was born December 6, 1867 and died August 24, 1869).
The U.S. Census of 1880 again lists Lan(g)kston Bacon, this time in Grayson County, Texas. He is now age 62 and was born in 1818 in MO.
His spouse is Sarah Bacon, and their resident children are Charles and Josephine.
It is thought that all the Bacons, Langston A., Sarah W., George W., Matilda and their children moved to Grayson County Texas in the early-mid 1870's. Court records in Grayson County show that L.A. and Sarah bought land of 80 acres in 1877.
Langston died in 1890 at age 72, Matilda died in 1892 at age 46, George W. died in 1902 at age 63, and Sarah died in 1905 at age 89. Courtesy of judybacon, FAG #48445602.
