WALTERBORO:

Mr. Albert Lee Calvert, husband of Juanita Saulisbury Muckenfuss Calvert, died Sunday morning at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 82.

Mr. Calvert was born in Landrum, SC September 20, 1930 a son of the late William Sylvester Calvert and Melissa Greenway Calvert.

He was a retired Tech. Sgt. of the U.S. Air Force, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was also a retired mechanic with Miller Cadillac in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Calvert attended the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, and was formerly an avid golfer, actually making two "Hole in One's" while being declared legally blind.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Dr. Wanda Evering (Doug) of Pittsburg, PA. There are three step-children that he loved as his own: Lamar Muckenfuss Jr., of Kingstree, Mary Anne Crews (Ed) of Walterboro, and Ronald Muckenfuss of Walterboro. He leaves behind three sisters: Ruby Dodd of Round O, Lathie Gains of Inman, Jeanette Pierce (Sam) of Landrum, and Rachel Drake of Greenville. Mr. Calvert also has three grandchildren, Trey Asbelle III (Chessie), Clifton Muckenfuss III (Mary Ann) and Shawn Padgett (Chancey) as well as five great-grandchildren: Kristen Asbelle, Chase and Cody Muckenfuss, and Payton and Madisyn Padgett. He was preceded in death by his first wife Blanche Maddle Calvert.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
