Born Nov. 11, 1922, in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rhoda Trump Steger. She was the wife of the late Myerl H. Calp, her husband of 38 years.
She attended Manchester High School and worked at the Hampstead sewing factories, Greenmount Canning Company, New Freedom Canning factory and Black & Decker. She was an avid seamstress that enjoyed making costumes for dance recitals, bicentennial events and other clothing for her grand-, great-grand- and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making holiday aprons and baking Christmas cookies with the family. Her other interests included gardening, canning and playing cards and bingo.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampstead. Surviving are daughter, Barbara J. Yelton, of Westminster; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry L. and Jaci Calp of Stewartstown, Pa., and Allen H. and Georgia Calp, of Millers; grandchildren Laurie A. McDonald, of Bakersfield, Calif., Lisa A. Yelton, of Manchester, Linda L. Nash and husband Donald, of Westminster, Jessica M. Mummert, of Spring Grove, Pa., Angela S. Riley, of Hanover, Pa., Michelle L. Krone and husband Michael, of Singers Glen, Va., Bradley A. Calp and wife Ashley, of Millers; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Erik, Nicole, Desiree, Lawrence, Jr., Autumn, Taylor, Lillian, Jordan and Levi; great-great-grandchildren, Braden, Brianna, Christian and Jonathan; and a sister, Jean S. Hartley, of Conway, S.C. She was predeceased by siblings Mabel Shoff, Dorothy Eckard, Charles Steger, William Steger and Richard Steger.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service, 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4300 Church Road, Hampstead, with the Rev. Norma Schenning officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
