Dorothy M. CALLENDER
NEWPORT NEWS - Dorothy 'Dot' M. Callender, 77, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Callender was born in Suffolk, Va., on March 12, 1934. She was a resident of New York until 2010, and resided in Newport News for the past year.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Callender and two children.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her sister, Catherine McCluney; brother-in-law, C F. McCluney of Newport News, Va.; and nephew, Sylvester Hicks of Hampton, who cared for her this past year; four sons, one daughter, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held Friday, April 22, 2011, from noon to 6 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 1129-33rd St., Newport News, Va. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
