Obituary.

Died, at Buffalo, N. Y., on the 20th inst., of pneumonia, after a brief illness, Mrs. Ellen Callender Buell, wife of J. S. Buell.
Mrs. Buell was born at Eagle Village in Manlius, Jan. 10, 1819, and was the eldest daughter of Ezekiel and Ann Dyer Callender. Her elder brother, Gen. F. D. Callender, died about a year ago and was buried at Fayetteville. Mrs. Buell's sisters, Mrs. B. C. Beard and Mrs. H. L. Beard, are residents of Fayetteville. Her younger brother, Capt. B. M. Calender, is now residing at Chicago, Ill. The older residents of Manlius and Pompey will remember Mrs. B. as Ellen Callender, while the succeeding generation will only know her as Mrs. Buell. Soon after her marriage in 1842, she resided at Buellville in Pompey; then in Syracuse for a few years, and in 1848 removed to Buffalo. In all her relations in life she was endeared to all with whom she came in contact by a loveliness of character seldom equalled or excelled. Of unassuming manner, she yet inspired the warmest friendship, and her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Her surviving husband, children and grandchildren, have met with a loss they alone can fully realize, and they have the fullest sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Of no one can it be more truthfully and that "none knew her but in love, none named her but to praise." Her remains were interred Nov. 23rd, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.
"Blessed are the dead, who die in the Lord."
