Son of Lemuel L. Callaway, Jr. and Anna Josephine Mullins

Obituary / Rites Friday for J.M. Callaway / April 19, 1940 - Mr. J.M. Callaway, 68 years of age, died Wednesday at his residence in Greensboro. He was born in Penfield, Ga., on June 27, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.K. Callaway. In 1900, he was married to Miss Mary Lankford, of Bairdstown. The deceased is survived by nine children, Julus, J.L., Felton, Leila Mae, Willie, Beamon, Jessie, Ernest and Reuben Callaway; sisters, Olivia and Augusta Ann Lankford; Mrs. Ruth Brake. Mr. Callaway was a member of the Penfield Baptist Church. The funeral will occur Friday at 3 o'clock at the Baptist Church. Rev. Charles H. Kopp will officiate. Interment is to be in the City Cemetery, Greensboro. J.H. McCommons Co., morticians, in charge.
