Barbara J. Callahan, 69, Waverly, Kan., died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka, Kan. She was born on Saturday, Dec. 5, 1942, in Garnett, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Philomena (Forge) Bollin. Barbara has lived in Waverly since 1995, moving there from Kansas City, Kan., where she lived most of her life. Barbara graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, Kan., with the class of 1960. Barbara worked for International Harvester in Kansas City, Kan., for 10 years during the 1960s and early 1970s. She then worked for Welborn Animal Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., for several years, later working for Stinson's Meat Processing in Ottawa, Kan., and Frog Creek Animal Clinic in Waverly. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. On Saturday, June 16, 1962, Barbara was united in marriage with Donald Joseph Callahan at Kansas City, Kan. He survives of their home. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Emerald, four miles south of Williamsburg, Kan. Mrs. Callahan will lie in state after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a visitation. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Emerald, Kan. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patrick's Church Renovation Fund or St. Patrick's Cemetery, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Philomena Bollin, and a brother, Walter Bollin Jr.
