MISHAWAKA - Venia "Ruth" Anderson, age 80, of Mishawaka, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family at 12:40 pm Monday, October 17, 2011. Ruth was born September 9, 1931, in Butler, Tennessee, to the late David Arthur and Lue Venia (Dugger) Caldwell. On May 27, 1953, in Tennessee, she married Mr. Ernest "Ray" Anderson, who preceded her in death, passing away in July 1983. Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Burgess and her companion, Don Esser of Mishawaka, Debbie Layton and her husband, Gary of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Donna Suetkamp of Mishawaka. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brent Burgess and his wife, Erin, Justin Campbell and his companion, Desiree Hudson, Andrea Burgess, and Tim Suetkamp and his wife, Kacie. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Brayden and Jacob Burgess, Gage and Gavin Suetkamp. Surviving as well are her siblings, Roger Caldwell of Mountain City, Tennessee, Lula Belle Demske of Mishawaka, David "Johnny" Caldwell of Hampton, Tennessee, and Linda Caldwell of Johnson City, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles "Edwin," Brenda and Virginia, as well as her son-in-law, Dale Suetkamp. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Friday, October 21, 2011, at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Chapel Hill, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Ruth was employed by the Uniroyal Corporation for 16 years. She then became a homemaker, and after the passing of her husband, Ray, went back to work for South Bend Plastics. She then retired at the age of 74. Ruth enjoyed gardening and canning, and enjoyed the company of her friends at work. She was also a devoted and loving grandmother and great-grandmother to her grandkids, who called her "GiGi." She was a longtime member of the New Life Church in Osceola, and loved to read her Bible and listen to Gospel Music. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their care and professionalism during their time of need. In Ruth's memory, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice.
