Grady F. Caldwell, 68, of Bluefield, formerly of Bishop, Va., was dead on arrival at a Bluefield hospital Thursday following an apparent heart attack. Born in Pocahontas, Va., he was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church. He was a retired miner and member of UMWA, Local 6025 of Bishop. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post 7136, and the American Legion Post 133, both of Tazewell, Va. He was a member of the Berwind Masonic Lodge No. 141.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Viola Dillon Caldwell; one daughter, Mrs. James (Doris Ann) Campbell of North Tazewell, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Bridgeman of Bluefield and Mrs. Jimmy Moore of Welch; two granddaughters, Kim and Kelli Campbell of North Tazewell.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road. Members of the Tazewell Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside rites. Pallbearers: Charlie Phillips, Clyde Kestner, Bill Belcher, Billy Joe Crawford, Jim Mayo, Mike Truman, Graham Jackson, Alton McNeil, Johnny Herald. Friends may call at the Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
