MARLENE ELIZABETH SEWOLT
Marlene Sewolt of Lakewood, Colorado died on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the age of 69. Marlene Elizabeth Calabrese was born the youngest of three daughters to Joe and Mary Calabrese on April 21, 1943. A second generation Coloradan. She attended Mt. Carmel Catholic High School and graduated from North High School in 1961. She married George Sewolt on August 26, 1961 and they celebrated 51 years of marriage on Sunday.
Marlene lived with a zest for life. She wanted to see and experience everything; trying out every new breakfast joint in town; seeing a rock concert at Red Rocks; taking family to Disney World; traveling all the way to Sweden to get her new convertible; going on a cruise to Hawaii; and bringing her granddaughters to the American Doll Museum in Beverly Hills. Marlene's postive attitude toward living with Cancer was an inspiration of life for well over a decade.
Her true passion in life were her friends and family. Marlene has the most dedicated friends, many are cousins, or they became part of the "cousins and Friends" gang in school, through church or the work place. When Marlene made a friend, it was for life. Marlene had a large Italian family and married into a larger German one. She was a very proud Aunt to over forty one nieces and nephews. In her last days, she was surrounded by so many people that loved her. We thank them all for the love, friendship and support they gave her as she battled cancer for 24 years.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 51 years George Sewolt; her two daughters, Georgia Suhanyi and husband Karl of Castle Pines, and Brenda Dougherty and her husband Chad of Denver; her grandchildren, Karlee, Katie, Selene and Emmett. Marlene is also survived by her sister Marie Sprinle and husband Ron. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Joe Calabrese and her sister Donna Delmonico, wife of Ken.
Visitation on Monday, September 3rd from 5:00pm - 7:00pm with a Rosery at 7:00pm at Mount Olivet Chapel, 12801 W. 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge CO. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 4th at 10:30am at our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1985 Miller, St., Lakewood, Colorado.
