ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Claudette Kay Cain, 75, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Dixie Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 23, 1935 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Claude and Lilly Maddox Valentine.

Kay graduated from Kennewick High School in Kennewick, Washington. After high

school she served her country in the United States Air Force, where she met the love of her life, Richard A. Cain. They were married on June 30, 1956.

Kay was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to read and crochet, creating the most beautiful afghans for which she won an honorable mention at the Utah State Fair. She was a member of the Intermountain Shetland Sheepdog Association, and enjoyed participating in those events with her daughter Kathy. She loved the outdoors, camping, traveling, and cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes, and due to her generous and loving nature inherited many over the years. Mom also enjoyed scrapbooking, and could beat anyone at a game of Scrabble. Family game nights were among her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by her husband Richard Cain of St. George, Utah; daughters: Katheryn Cain of Midvale, Utah, Jeanette (Larry) Sickles of Riverdale, Utah, and Richelle (Zane) Ratliff of St. George, Utah; and son Lawrence (Misti) Cain of St. George, Utah. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held Monday, May 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tonaquint Cemetery, located at 1777 S. Dixie Dr. in St. George. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. May 2, 2011 at Pine View Mortuary, 566 N. Mall Dr. St. George, Utah. Services under the direction of Pine View Mortuary, 435-986-4222.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your local Humane Society
