Theda B. Bergman, nee Cain, 85, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born Jan. 13, 1920, in East St. Louis, Ill., died June 11, 2005, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

She was a retired Truant Officer for District 189 in East St. Louis, Ill., a member of Teachers Local East St. Louis Dist. 189 and Edgemont School PTA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bergman Sr.; her parents, George and Edna, nee Greenfield, Cain; and a son-in-law, Jerry Nottmeier.

She is survived by a son, Walter (Nancy) Bergman Jr.; two daughters, Theresa (Dale) Klaus of St. Albans, Mo. and Christine Nottmeier of Columbia, Ill.; 5 grandchildren, Robbie Walter Bergman, Alec Bergman, Ellen Bergman Anthony Michael Schaub and Michael Joseph Harp, 2 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsy Schaub.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Valhalla Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Valhalla Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
