MILITARY RITES TO BE ACCORDED FRANK R. CAHILL
Frank R. Cahill, 72, of Janesville, passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato of a heart condition following an illness of six hours on Monday, June 17.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday June 20, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, in Janesville with the Rev. W. D. Sullivan, officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann's Cemetery. Full Military rites will be accorded the deceased at grave side services by the Janesville American Legion Post 281. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Arnoldt Funeral Home in Janesville. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Frank Richard Cahill, son of Edmund and Theresa Cahill, was born in Mankato on March 18, 1896 and on June 3, 1937, he married the former Gertrude Nicholson in Janesville. Before World War I, Mr. Cahill and his parents had homesteaded in Miles City, Mont., and he returned to Janesville in 1921. Mr. Cahill was engaged in the oil and gas business and home insulation prior to farming near Janesville the last 25 years. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a World War I veteran, a 40-year member of the Janesville American Legion Post 281 and had served 12 years on the Janesville Village Council.
Surviving are his widow, Gertrude; brothers, William of Missoula, Mont., and Joseph of John Day, Ore.; sisters, Mrs. Ann Heath of Sumner, Wash.; Mrs. Rose Howells of Plains, Mont.; Mrs. Theresa Bickle of Miles City, Mont., and Mrs. Evelyn Simmons of Billings, Mont. Two brothers preceded him in death.
