Mrs. M. J. Cahill Is Called By Death
Her Demise Followed After Illness Of Only One Week
The announcement of the death of Mrs. Margaret Cahill on Friday following an illness of only one week, came as a shock to the entire community. Her death occurred at a Mankato hospital and was due to apoplexy.
Margaret Norton Cahill was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Norton and was born in the township of St. Mary in this county on April 22, 1879. At the time of her death she was fifty-four years of age. The deceased resided in the community in which she was born until the time of her marriage.
On June, 21st, 1911, she was join in the bonds of wedlock to Michael J. Cahill of Janesville and to this union, six children were born one of whom died in infancy. Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. Frederick Thiessen, Irene Cahill, Marie Cahill, Gertrude Cahill and Raphael Cahill. A granddaughter, Betty Lou, also survives. Surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Edward Cahill, Janesville, Mrs. Don Callahan, Mrs. Thomas McHugo, Daniel Norten and Miss Catherine Norton of Waseca, Mrs. Henry Linnihan, New Richland, James and Richard Norton of St. Mary.
Mrs. N. J. Cahill during her residence in this community was one of the most active farm women in all civic and social affairs that made for the good and well-being of the community. She was a loving mother, a loyal friend and a good neighbor. Her untimely passing is a personal loss to a host of friends and neighbors as well as to the entire community.
The funeral services were held Monday morning from the home at nine o'clock and immediately thereafter at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Parkinson conducting the funeral services. Mrs. Cahill's funeral was one of largest ever held in Janesville. The pallbearers were M. W. Keeley, Thomas Eustice, Thomas Nicholson, James O'Leary, William Naughton and Severin Thiessen. Interment took place in St. Ann's cemetery.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Sullivan and son Timothy and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tisdale, Morton; Mrs. Thomas Hogan, Mrs. Michael McKeon, Mrs. Symington and son, Thomas Hogan and Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson and children, Minneapolis; Mrs. Terry Naughton, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thiessen and Mr. and Mrs. John Thiessen, Mankato; and William Eustice and family, Waseca.
