Edna Earle Cagle Lewis died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Levelland Covenant Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, 218 East Washington in Morton with Rev. Hollis Shewmake officiating followed immediately by graveside services at Morton Memorial Cemetery.
Edna was born June 19, 1920 in Wood County. She was the daughter of W. L. and Ola Mathis Cagle. She moved to Cochran County in 1928 where she attended schools at Bledsoe and Morton. She graduated from Morton High School in 1939. Edna married the love of her life, G. D. Lewis on May 28, 1942. After World War II, the couple made their home southwest of Morton in Cochran County where they raised four children on their farm. G. D. preceded her in death July 6, 1997.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Penny Alaine Lewis Schlabach and her husband Steve Schlabach of Lubbock, Janet Sue Lewis Smith and her husband Larry Smith of Ropesville, Gwin Dean Lewis Jamerson and her husband Kelly Jamerson of Midland; and a son, Tommy Wynn Lewis and his wife, Angie Lewis of Morton. She is survived by two sisters, Geneva Cagle Huff and Nancy Cagle Dewbe and her husband, Edward of Morton. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandson, Greg Smith, Juston Smith, Daron Schlabach, Lance Jamerson, Casey Jamerson and Brian Campbell.
Memorials may be directed to The American Diabetes Association or American Kidney Fund.
