Mary Bergman Johnson, 77, died Oct. 30, 1998, of natural causes at the Palmer Pioneer's Home. A memorial service was held at the Wasilla Bible Church, 701 Lucille St. in Wasilla, with the Rev. Larry Kroon officiating. Private burial was at the Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 9, 1921, in Anchorage to Charles L. And Alexia J. Shaw Cadwallader. She was a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She spent her life in Alaska and was an elementary school teacher who retired in 1977. Her family said, ''She lived a full and happy life from Anchorage to Independence Mine to Wasilla. She loved teaching school in Wasilla, Palmer and Talkeetna. When comes such another?''
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Linda Rae Bergman and Judith Rae Bergman; sons and daughters-in-law, Johan Johnson, Don and Pauline Johnson, and Maurice and Karen Johnson; grandchildren, Jeff Overstreet, Lori Taliaferro, Brenda Hall, Erik Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Arthur Johnson and Barbara Byrne; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alaska Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 240 E. Tudor Road, Suite 110, Anchorage, 99503. Arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory.
