Born on July 6, 1924, in Star City, Ark., Bettye was the daughter of Curtis Wayne and Effie Grace Fish. She married Joseph M. Cable on September 13, 1945. Bettye studied art at Texas Women's University and Hardin-Simmons University. An unfailingly kind person, Bettye was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. She taught 4-year-old Sunday school at the First Baptist Church of Muskogee for more than 40 years, positively influencing countless children. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. Roy Fish.
