Frances Lorene (Pester) Chain, was born July 25, 1923, to LeRoy Pester and Katherine Marie (Shellenberger) Pester, at Southard, Oklahoma. She died March 24, 2004 at the Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 80.
She was raised in Southard, Canton, and Longdale where she attended school. She married Eugene A. Schands. They moved to California where their daughter was born.
Frances and her daughter returned to Oklahoma. She began working as a waitress in Canton where she met an later married Eldon Hansen "Sib" Chain on July 15, 1946. They were blessed with a son and daughter.
Eldon was in the U.S. Army and sent to Korea. At that time, Frances moved the family back to Longdale, and she worked at a school bus driver. After Eldon returned to stateside, he was stationed in Lawton, and once again the family moved with him. He passed away in 1964. After his death, Frances returned to the Longdale area to drive the school bus again.
Frances met long time companion Jerry Abbott, in October of 1964. They lived north of Fairview. Jerry passed away in 1997.
She was a member of Fairview Church of the Nazarene, the Fairview Wranglers, and she was involved with missions including supporting the youth of the church.
She is survived by her son; two daughters; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, both husbands and her companion.
Funeral services were held March 27, 2004 at the Fairview Church of the Nazarene.
