Janice E. Black, 68, of Paragon, died at 11:55 p.m. Feb. 4, 2002, at Morgan Hospital & Health Center.

Born Sept. 20, 1933, in Owen County, she was the daughter of Roy and Jessie (Bolin) Byrum. She married John Black June 2, 1951. He survives.

Mrs. Black worked at the Kennedy Living Center for 14 years and retired as the supervisor of the Dietary Department.

She was a member of Apostolic Faith Church in Martinsville for 30 years and was a member of the church's Ladies Auxiliary.

Other survivors include three sons, Rick and Randy Black, both of Paragon, and John Black of Gosport; three daughters, Annette Black and Linda Collier of Paragon and Vicky Neal of Gosport; two brothers, Christopher Byrum of Denver, Colo., and Joe Byrum of Paragon; four sisters, Alice Smilco, Ruth Bauldwin, Norma Moore and Mildred Allen, all of Indianapolis; and 12 grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ann Perry and Edith Carpenter, preceded her in death.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Apostolic Faith Church in Martinsville. The Rev. Patricia Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Gosport Cemetery at Gosport, Ind.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Apostolic Faith Church.
