L. E. (Ed) Byrum, 77, of 821 Queen Anne avenue died at 9:45 a.m. at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Wapello County.
Born September 11, 1864, he was the son of William and Sara Ann (Stevens) Byrum. He had lived in Ottumwa for 52 years.
Mr. Byrum was a member of the Finley avenue Baptist church, and a member of lodge No. 269, A.F. and A.M.
Surviving are two sons, L.E. Byrum, Jr. of Middletown, Ohio, and H.L. Byrum of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Mary and Robert Byrum of Middletown; two sisters, Miss Maude Byrum of Ottumwa and Mrs. Nina Bare of Shelton, Wash. and a brother William of Lead, S. D.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Mary July 5, 1928, and by one son, Harold.
The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services for L.E. (Ed) Byrum will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Finley Avenue Baptist church. the Rev. V. L. Currier of the church will be in charge assisted by the Rev. Harold W. Roberts of the First Christian church.
Mr. Byrum died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. His home was 821 Queen Ann avenue.
Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Masonic services will be held at the grave. The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel in the church at noon Thursday and will be closed at the beginning of the services.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Randal, George Head, Irvin Palmer, Ray Randall, George Myers and Leo Buyack.
