He was born Oct. 9, 1911, at Dutch, a son of the late Grover Byrne and Delphia Allen.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma J Byrne on Oct. 11, 1987; sons, Denzil and Spink; daughter, Frances Byrne; and brothers, Rufus and Ward.
Ralph was former owner of Heaters Supply and Byrne's Grocery at Napier, a timberman and farmer. He was a member of the Tichenel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lena Jo Riffle (Hubert) of Burnsville, with whom he made his home; foster son, Larry Conrad and wife, Darlynda of Gassaway; and grandson, Denzil Ray Byrne Jr.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ressie Robison officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens.
