Sarah "Sally" Byrd Alexander
Birth: Nov. 2, 1824
Perry County
Kentucky, USA
Death: Dec. 30, 1899
Martinstown
Putnam County
Missouri, USA

Sarah's land was deeded to her and her children by James Admire in Lucas County, Iowa. The Mo. land was part of land once owned by Henry Bird, he had received it as a land grant from his service in the War of 1812 in Capt. John Simpson's Kentucky Company Kentucky Volunteer Militia. Henry and his wife Rebecca Pollard lived next door to Andrew Alexander in Estill County, Kentucky in 1830. He died in Shelby County, Indiana on April 19, 1839. Rebecca filed additional papers in 1877 in Marion County, Indiana stating that she was 77 and had never remarried. She also received land from Samuel Bird. Perhaps they were related in some way to her father. Moses never owned any land. There was a family story about her name being "Sally Singing Bird" and that was perhaps a nickname. There is a fiddle in Iowa that was said to have come from England with her family. Sarah was said to play the fiddle up on a hill that was called by the locals "Sally's Mountain". This was on a part of her land.
