James O. Byrd
Jacksonville, Fla. - James Oscar Byrd, 48, died Saturday at Memorial Medical Center after a short illness.
The Bulloch County native had lived in Jacksonville for 20 years. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are four sons, John L. Byrd of Statesboro and James, Chris and Wayne Byrd, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; four daughters, Misses Cynthia, Margaret and Vontricia Byrd, all of Jacksonville, and Miss Carolyn Byrd of Oakland, Fla.; his mother, Mrs. Katie Mae Williams of Indianapolis; his father, Primer Byrd of Jacksonville; six sisters, Mrs. Ruby L. Campbell, Mrs. May J. Williams and Mrs. Dorothy Carter, all of Statesboro, Mrs. JoAn Wigfall of South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Melivia Holiday and Mrs. Gertie A. Williams, both of Indianapolis; and a brother, Carl L. Byrd of St Petersburg, Fla.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Harmony Baptist Church in Statesboro, burial in the church cemetery.
