May 21, 1930 - May 1, 2009
Bro. Forrest Bynum, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, May 1, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born May 21, 1930, in Protection, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Wilma; four children: Mike Bynum and wife, Jan, of Lamar, MS, Jim Bynum and wife, Cheryl, of Perryville, AR, Philip Bynum and wife, Rosan, of Paragould, AR, and Roxie Bynum Wright and husband, Bruce, of Warren, AR; grandchildren: Chris Bynum and wife, Traci, Jon Bynum , Levi Bynum and wife, Sarah, Lindsey Bynum, Sundy Bynum, Kyle Bynum and wife, April, Alan Spraggins and Julie Anne Spraggins; and great-grandchildren, Lane Bynum , Foster Bynum, and Sydni Bynum; and half-brother, Roger Bynum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James David Bynum and Essie Mae Webber ; step-father, Harold Webber; brother, James Earle Bynum; grandson, Jody Michael Bynum; and great-granddaughter, Lexis Trinity Bynum.
He was an avid outdoorsman and had many hobbies and interests, including horseback riding, gardening, camping and traveling, but what he loved more than anything was preaching.
He surrendered to the ministry at age 24 and graduated from Southern Baptist College and Ouachita Baptist College. He attended seminary at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and had 55 wonderful years in the ministry as a teaching pastor. He retired from the ministry twice, but at the time of his death, was pastor of Oak Valley Baptist Church in Elizabeth, AR.
He lived life to the fullest each and every day and was so proud of the life he and Wilma had made at "Dunrovin", their home in Salesville.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 3 from noon until 9:00 PM., at Roller Funeral Home of Mountain Home, with the family receiving friends 4-6:00 PM. Funeral services will be Monday May 4 at 10 a.m., at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be Monday at 3 p.m., at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro. Memorials may be made to Oak Valley Baptist Church, 3203 Hand Cove Rd., Elizabeth, AR 72531.
