David Oswald Byler was born on February 17, 1920 in Poland Ohio to John I. Byler and Amanda T. Byler. One of 10 children.
David Byler graduated from Goshen College in Goshen Indiana and the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY.
He married Darlene M. Birkey, of Bremen, IN in March 1945. The couple had four children, David Michael (12/23/1945), Cynthia Jean (9/8/1948), Stephen Patrick
(12/13/1952) and Timothy Scott (10/31/1956). Rev. Byler served as Minister of Music and Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church in Hickory, NC for more than 28 years.
He died of complications of congestive heart failure and multiple myeloma on May 20, 1999 at Frye Hospital in Hickory, NC.
