Born in Shtabeen, Poland he came to Lehight in 1890 and was a merchant there for 30 years. He was vicepresident of the Lehigh National Bank. He moved to OKC in 1920 and engaged in both retail and wholesale dry goods business until his death.
Soon after moving to Lehight Byers became the leader and organizer of the Jewery of south eastern Oklahoma. In OKC he was president of the Emanuel Hebrew Synagogue for many years. He was a 32nd degree mason and Shriner.
Survivors include three daughters Mrs Samuel Deutsch, Mrs Herman Fagin & Mrs Max Fagin. Three sons Sterling, Jerome & Paul Byers.
