Archie Dale Buys, born to Florence E. Bonner and Judge Archie DeVera Buys on Jan. 14 1921, passed away after an acute illness on Jan. 4, 2003, in Mesa, Arizona, where he and his wife Geniel resided during the winters.

Born in Heber City, Utah, Dale graduated from Wasatch High School, where he excelled in athletics and played drums in the high school band. He had a beautiful bass voice and performed for many school and community functions. He studied science and music at Brigham Young University before serving four years in the Army during World War II as a medic and X-ray technician.

Following the war, he returned to Heber and married Geniel V. Epperson in August, 1946.

He then completed a degree in Pharmacy at Washington State University, and subsequently worked as a Pharmacist/Store Manager for Payless Drug Stores in Oregon and Washington for over 30 years.

Dale served in leadership capacities for many church and community organizations and was listed in Who's Who in the West in the 1970's. He sang with the Camarata Club and was a member of their elite group, the Ambassadors. He enjoyed fishing and boating.

He is survived by his brother, Russell Buys, sisters, June Wilson and Maxine Huffaker, wife, Geniel Buys, daughters Linda Jones, Susan Davis, Kathy Ellsworth and son Dale K. Buys. Dale and Geniel have 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dale was a loving husband, wonderful father, and trusted friend. He was well known to everyone for his honesty and integrity.
