A memorial service will be held in December for Alan Townsend Button, who died Oct. 3, 1997, at age 92.
Mr. Button was born March 31, 1905, in the county of Kent, England. He immigrated to Oregon in 1914. He graduated from the University of Oregon and earned a master's degree from Columbia University. He served as a teacher and principal at Newberg High School, a teacher at Jefferson High School, and principal at Lents, Sellwood, George and Capitol Hill grade schools. He married Mary P. Griffin in 1935; she died in 1973.
Survivors include his son, James of Portland; and sister, Joan A. Davies of Corvallis.
Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements are by Riverview Abbey Funeral Home.
