In the death of Mrs. Caroline Butler Atwood, this city has lost one of her very finest workers and mothers.
Mrs. Atwood was born a few miles from Frankfort, Ky., the daughter of Dr J Russell Butler. A few years later the family moved to Louisville, and in 1888 Miss Butler becameMrs. Atwood
Mrs. Atwood youngest son was killed on July 31 in action at Chateau Thierry in France. Shortley before her death, Mrs. and Mrs. Atwood founded a $15,000 scholarship as a memorial to their son, with Louisville Boys' High School. Three other children survive, James Short Atwood, Lewis Rogers Atwood, JR , Mrs John W Price, JR.
Mrs. Atwood was one of the most active members of the First Presbyterian Church. She was very active in social, charitable and other work.
