BRODEUR Mrs. Virginia Brodeur passed away on February 18, 2008 in Crestview, FL. She was born in Pelham, GA on June 23, 1925 to Garnie and Lillian Chason Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son James Edward Brodeur. She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Joseph R. Brodeur, Jr.; her daughter Pat Futch and son-in-law Harry of Fort Walton Beach, FL; her grandchildren Karen L. Kaiser and husband T. C. of Tampa, FL, and Michael J. Futch and wife Catherine of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her great-grandchildren, Caroline Grace and Thomas Chason Kaiser of Tampa, FL; her sister Jean and brother-in-law Johnny Lohrer of Jacksonville, FL; nieces Carole Manucy and husband Curtis, and Annette Reed of St. Augustine, FL; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Brodeur spent most of her childhood and early adult life in St. Augustine, FL, where she met and married her husband. After Mr. Brodeur's retirement from the Navy in 1957, the Brodeurs moved to Jacksonville, FL where Virginia lived for more than 35 years. Mrs. Brodeur worked for AT&T as an overseas operator for 21 years. In 1991, Mrs. Brodeur retired from AT&T, and moved to The Villages of Lady Lake, FL where she enjoyed an active retirement. In 2002, Mrs. Brodeur moved to Fort Walton Beach to be near her daughter and son-in-law to receive the tender care she needed. The family would like to thank Sandra Tingle, Melonie McClure, and the outstanding staff of Carington Manor for their professional and gentle care; Emerald Coast Hospice; Dr. Reed Harned and his nurse Cindy; Dr. Lee Thigpen and Bonnie; Dr. Gwen Mercer, Dr. Michael Given, and Dr. Michael Glenn for their patience and compassionate guidance; Mrs. Jean Fortenberry for her steadfast devotion; and Maria Couts for her dedication. Funeral services will be held at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, FL on February 22 at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements are with Craig Funeral Home, Crematory, and Memorial Park.
