Obituary of Nancy "Nannie" Mae Truitt Butler (no publication data - loose clipping in Butler Files)

"Mrs. Nannie Mae Butler, daughter of James Riley and Sallie Anne Truitt, was born Jan. 27th, 1875 in Wilkes County, Georgia, and departed this life May 22, 1969 following several years of failing health, at the age of 94 yrs., 3 mos., and 25 days. A brother, W.J. Truitt of Guymon, Oklahoma, a sister, Mrs. Reba Huguley of Tignall, Ga., and an infant sister preceded her in death. Early in life Mrs. Butler accepted Christ as her Savior, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Guymon, Okla. On June 15, 1898 she was united in marriage to George Edward Butler of Metasville, Ga., at which place they resided until moving to the Eva Community, in Okla., in 1926. To this union were born 8 children-6sons and 2 daughters. The Butler family resided in Eva until Mr. Butler's death in 1936, when Mrs. Butler moved to Denver. In 1939 she came to Guymon to make her home with her daughter, Mr. L.H. Booker, where she resided until her death with the exception of 3 years spent with her son Herman in Ochelata, Okla. Just prior to her death she spent about 6 weeks at Dunaway Manor. Preceeding her in death were her husband and two infant sons. Survivors include 2 daughters - Mrs. L.H. Booker (Rachel), and Mrs. Paul Weber (Reba), 4 sons-Herman of Jacksonville, Texas, George of Orland, Florida, Charles of Clemenson, S.C., and Edward of Santa Monica, Calif., 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great nieces, and a host of friends."
