Batesburg Girl, 2 Killed As Auto Backs From Driveway
Two year old Betty Jo Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Herman Butler of near Batesburg died of injuries yesterday after being run over by an auto backing out of her family's driveway.
It was reported an uncle of the child was driving the car and was leaving the house to get some clothing for Betty Jo's grandmother who was getting ready to enter the hospital. The little girl was playing at the rear of the automobile as it started up. She died shortly after being taken to the Columbia Hospital.
Survivors include her father and mother of Batesburg; one sister, Miss Jennifer Butler of Batesburg; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Butler of Saluda; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Patterson Temple of Batesburg; her maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake S. Temple of Batesburg, and her paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Betty Ann Rambo of Saluda.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4'oclock Tuesday afternoon from the graveside in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery on the Greenwood highway in Saluda County by the Rev. Henry Bell White of Saluda.
The body will be at the paternal grandparents, Route 4, Saluda, until the hour of the service.
