1941 - 2013
Kathleen Ann Butler, 71 years, of Ida, died at her residence, Tuesday, April 2. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Saturday, from 6-9 PM, and Sunday, from 1-7 PM. She will lie in state at the East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church Monday, April 8, 2013, from 10 AM until Services at 11 AM. Pastor Bruce Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Born July 6, 1941, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Elmer and Helma (Dick) Merce. An 1959 Ida High School graduate and went on to earn her Certificate in Phlebotomy. Prior to retiring in 2008, she was employed by Path Labs of Toledo for approximately twenty years and had previously been employed by Monroe County ISD, Green Meadows Golf Course, and Flower Hospital.
Kathleen was a former president of the Ladies Aid Society at Immanuel, former officer of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Monroe Zone, and a volunteer with M.O.S.T. Ministries, the Lutheran Home of Monroe, and was a Vacation Bible School Teacher. She supported Holy Ghost Lutheran School and Lutheran High School South with her time and talents. She also served as a Cub Scout Leader, member of the Toledo Zoo, and a volunteer with the Ida Band and Athletic Boosters. She was an avid traveler, enjoyed researching family, church and local history/genealogy, and supported music and the arts.
Survivors include: daughter, Karen (Rick) Durham; son Dave (Emily Sipos) Butler; grandchildren, Christopher and Anton Durham and Gwendolyn, Claire, and Sophia Butler.
